Victor Osimhen Closing in on Galatasaray Move After €75m Agreement

Istanbul, July 21 – Victor Osimhen is on the verge of sealing a blockbuster transfer to Galatasaray, with an agreement in principle now in place between the Turkish champions and Napoli. The two clubs have verbally settled on a €75 million fee, with only final details left to iron out before the deal is formally completed.

Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Napoli have approved the structure of the offer, while Galatasaray remain cautiously optimistic that a full agreement will be confirmed in the coming days.

Osimhen’s potential return to Istanbul follows a hugely successful loan spell at Galatasaray during the 2024–25 campaign, where the Nigerian striker finished as the Turkish Super Lig’s top scorer and helped the club clinch a domestic double.

Since joining Napoli for a then-club-record €80 million in 2020, Osimhen has established himself as one of Europe’s elite strikers. He was named Serie A’s Best Young Player in the 2021–22 season before firing Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years the following campaign. His 26-goal haul in 2022–23 not only secured the league’s top scorer crown but also set a new record for the most goals by an African player in a single Serie A season. The Nigerian was later named Serie A Footballer of the Year and became the league’s all-time highest scoring African player.

Internationally, Osimhen has been equally influential. He made his senior debut for Nigeria in 2017 and starred at both the 2019 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, reaching the final in the latter. With 20 goals, he ranks second on Nigeria’s all-time scoring list and was named African Footballer of the Year in 2023—the first Nigerian to win the award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999. That same year, he finished eighth in the Ballon d’Or rankings, the highest-ever position for a Nigerian.

Now poised for a permanent return to Galatasaray, Osimhen could be the marquee signing that elevates the club’s European ambitions even further.
