Newcastle Step Up Pursuit of Yoane Wissa Amid Ongoing Sesko Talks and Isak Uncertainty

Newcastle, 26 July – Newcastle United are preparing to accelerate their pursuit of Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, with talks set to resume this weekend and a bid exceeding £30 million expected to be tabled.

Wissa, 27, is keen to leave Brentford this summer despite the club’s desire to retain him. The Bees are holding out for a fee in excess of £40 million and remain reluctant to sanction a sale unless their valuation is met. However, Newcastle are hopeful that Wissa’s stance could help push a deal through as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Alongside their pursuit of Wissa, the Magpies remain in active discussions with RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško. Talks are ongoing as Newcastle seek to strike an agreement on personal terms with the highly rated Slovenian, who is seen as a long-term investment.

The club’s intensified interest in attacking reinforcements comes amid growing uncertainty over the future of star striker Alexander Isak. The Sweden international is understood to be pushing for a move away from St James’ Park this summer, with Liverpool among the clubs monitoring his situation closely.

Newcastle’s recruitment drive reflects the club’s ambition to stay competitive in the top four race while also preparing for the potential departure of key players. Eddie Howe is keen to add depth and versatility to his frontline, and both Wissa and Å eÅ¡ko are viewed as priority targets to reshape the Magpies’ attacking unit.
