Marseille, July 28 – Marseille have secured the signing of Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao in a deal worth up to €35 million, fending off interest from newly promoted Premier League side Leeds United.

The French club have agreed to pay an initial €30 million, with a further €5 million in potential bonuses for the 25-year-old Brazilian, who is expected to arrive in France shortly to undergo his medical. Paixao has agreed terms on a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 runners-up.

Leeds had identified Paixao as a key summer target as they prepare for life back in the Premier League, but the lure of Champions League football proved decisive in the player’s choice. Marseille’s European pedigree and domestic ambition helped sway the in-demand winger.

Paixao was one of the standout performers in Dutch football last season, scoring 18 goals and providing 19 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions for Feyenoord. His arrival adds further firepower to a Marseille squad aiming to challenge Paris Saint-Germain for domestic honours and make an impression in Europe.
