Manchester, July 22 – Manchester United are now turning their attention to strengthening other key areas of the squad following the arrivals of Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha, with a goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder, and an additional striker on the club’s summer wishlist.
The Red Devils have moved quickly to bolster their attacking options, with Mbuemo joining from Brentford and Cunha arriving from Wolves. The duo are expected to add versatility and depth to Ruben Amorim’s frontline, but United are far from finished in the market.
Next on the agenda is addressing a series of strategic priorities. A new goalkeeper remains high on the list, with uncertainty continuing to surround the future of Andre Onana. While no final decision has been made regarding the Cameroonian’s status as No.1, the club are exploring options both for a reliable back-up and a potential replacement.
In midfield, United are looking to secure a specialist defensive midfielder to offer greater balance and protection to Amorim’s high-tempo system. Reinforcing that area is seen as vital after a season where the team at times struggled to control games and shield the back line.
And despite Cunha’s arrival, the club are still keeping an eye on the striker market. Amorim is believed to want another centre-forward to round out his attacking unit—ideally one with a different profile to complement Cunha and Rasmus Højlund.
With several weeks remaining in the transfer window, United’s recruitment drive is set to continue as they build a squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts. The message from Old Trafford is clear: the rebuild under Amorim is very much underway.
