Juventus Eye Brighton’s Matt O’Riley as Sporting Hold Firm on Hjulmand Price

Turin, August 4 – Juventus have reportedly turned their attention to Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Matt O’Riley as they explore alternatives to Morten Hjulmand, with Sporting CP standing firm on their valuation of the Danish international.

The Bianconeri have long admired Hjulmand, but negotiations with Sporting have stalled due to the Portuguese club’s insistence on a high asking price. As a result, Juventus are now keeping close tabs on O’Riley, who is viewed as a more attainable option in the current market.

O’Riley, who joined Brighton earlier this summer from Celtic, has yet to make his Premier League debut for the Seagulls but made a name for himself in Scotland with his technical quality, vision, and work rate. His profile aligns with the type of midfielder Juventus are looking to bring in—one capable of contributing both defensively and creatively in the centre of the park.

With Juventus keen to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season, the club’s recruitment team is working quickly to assess potential targets who can fit the tactical framework under Thiago Motta. While Hjulmand remains a player of interest, the Turin giants are unwilling to meet Sporting’s current valuation and could shift their focus entirely if talks don’t progress.

Whether O’Riley becomes the primary target remains to be seen, but his presence on Juventus’s radar signals a potential twist in the club’s summer transfer strategy.
