Newcastle, July 29 – Alexander Isak has reportedly turned down a staggering offer from Saudi giants Al-Hilal that could have made him one of the wealthiest footballers in the world.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Newcastle United striker was offered an eye-watering €35 million annual salary, with an additional €16 million in performance-based bonuses. The deal included incentives such as €34,000 per goal and €21,000 per assist — meaning if Isak had matched last season’s Premier League output of 23 goals and six assists, he would have pocketed an extra €922,000 in goal bonuses alone.
The financial rewards didn’t stop there. Al-Hilal’s proposal also promised €4 million for each league title win and €4.3 million per AFC Champions League triumph. Becoming the league’s top scorer would have added another €2 million to his earnings. The package was further sweetened by €137,000 per month in personal expenses, a luxury residence, and a private chauffeur.
Yet despite the extraordinary riches on offer, the 25-year-old Swede reportedly declined the move, instead opting to pursue a future at a club competing for top honours in Europe. Liverpool are currently the frontrunners for his signature, although the transfer landscape could still shift as rival clubs circle.
Isak’s decision reflects a growing trend among elite European players who are choosing sporting ambition over Saudi riches. With his future up in the air and the summer window heating up, all eyes will be on where the prolific forward ends up next.
