Dortmund Eye Barcelona Duo in Youth-Focused Recruitment Drive

Dortmund, August 4 – Borussia Dortmund are reportedly targeting two of Barcelona’s brightest young prospects as they aim to bolster their squad for the upcoming season, with a particular focus on long-term development.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Dortmund have set their sights on 19-year-old right-back Héctor Fort and 17-year-old midfielder Marc Fernandez—both of whom have featured in Barcelona’s pre-season squad but face limited first-team prospects under new head coach Hansi Flick.

Fort, a Spanish youth international, is attracting interest from a host of European clubs including AC Milan, Mallorca, Ajax, and Paris FC. With Jules Kounde and Eric García ahead of him in the pecking order at right-back, Barcelona are open to either a loan deal or a permanent transfer with a buy-back clause to retain future control over the defender’s development.

Meanwhile, Fernandez, a product of La Masia and under contract until 2027, is also seeking a clearer path to senior football. The 17-year-old playmaker has drawn concrete proposals from several clubs, with Dortmund among the most serious suitors. Known for nurturing young talent—such as Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho—the Bundesliga club could provide Fernandez with the playing time and development opportunities he’s looking for.

Barcelona’s willingness to negotiate exits for both players reflects the intense competition for places under Flick and a strategic push to find suitable pathways for their emerging talents.
