Colorado Rapids in Talks to Sign Rob Holding Amid Interest from English Clubs

Denver, July 23 — MLS side Colorado Rapids are in discussions to sign English centre-back Rob Holding from Crystal Palace, sources have confirmed. The 29-year-old defender is attracting strong interest from several clubs in England, but the Rapids are pushing to bring him to the United States.

Holding, who spent the bulk of his career at Arsenal before moving to Selhurst Park, is seen as a potential defensive leader for the Rapids as they continue to rebuild under head coach Chris Armas. Talks are ongoing, with the club hopeful of securing a deal despite competition from the Championship and lower-tier Premier League sides.

Holding made over 150 appearances during his time at Arsenal, winning two FA Cups, before joining Crystal Palace in 2023. While his time in South London has been mixed, his experience and leadership remain highly valued, particularly in a league like MLS where defensive quality is at a premium.

Should the move materialise, Holding would become the latest English player to make the switch across the Atlantic, following a growing trend of experienced European professionals bringing their talents to North America.
