Chelsea Eye Morgan Rogers in Swap Deal with Aston Villa

London, 24 July — Chelsea are plotting a swap deal to bring Aston Villa’s rising star Morgan Rogers to Stamford Bridge. Defensive players Benoît Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah, and Tosin Adarabioyo are all under consideration as potential makeweights.

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder enjoyed a breakout season under Unai Emery in 2024/25, registering eight goals and ten assists in 37 Premier League appearances. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea now keen to add his creativity and directness to their rapidly evolving squad.

While Aston Villa narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, finishing just outside the top four, Chelsea secured a coveted top-five spot after edging Nottingham Forest 1–0 on the final day of the season. That success — and the lure of European football — could strengthen the Blues’ hand in negotiations.

Chelsea’s recruitment team is believed to be actively exploring ways to make the deal financially viable, with a player-plus-cash offer considered their preferred route. Badiashile, Chalobah, and Adarabioyo — all defenders with Premier League experience — are viewed as assets who could tempt Villa, particularly with Emery aiming to bolster his back line ahead of a demanding campaign.

Rogers’ versatility and attacking output have made him one of the most sought-after young midfielders in the Premier League. Comfortable playing centrally or out wide, his ability to drive forward, pick passes, and score goals has made him a standout performer in a Villa side that punched above its weight last term.

Chelsea’s interest forms part of a broader summer reshuffle, with the club continuing to back manager Enzo Maresca in the transfer market. Bringing in young, dynamic talent has been a consistent theme — and Rogers fits that profile perfectly.

Talks are still in the early stages, but if a deal can be agreed, it would mark another statement move by Chelsea as they look to climb back into title contention.
