Atlético Madrid Join Race for Barcelona Midfielder Marc Casadó Amid Premier League Interest

Madrid, August 2 – Atlético Madrid are preparing a formal bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó before the close of the summer transfer window, according to El Nacional. The 21-year-old, who has spent the past eight years at La Masia, now finds his future in doubt amid stiff competition in the Blaugrana midfield.

Casadó made 36 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona during the 2024–25 season, emerging as a reliable squad player. However, his influence waned in the latter stages of the campaign after returning from a knee injury, and with Barcelona’s midfield now brimming with options — including the return of rising star Marc Bernal from a long-term layoff — the club is expected to offload at least one player in that area.

While Premier League clubs Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all been credited with interest in Casadó, Atlético are now firmly in the race and reportedly preparing to table an official offer. The Rojiblancos see the Spain youth international as a versatile and technically sound addition to Diego Simeone’s evolving midfield setup.

Casadó, known for his combative style and positional discipline, has been tipped for a bright future but faces limited opportunities at Camp Nou given the current depth of Hansi Flick’s squad. Despite his commitment to the club, the prospect of regular first-team football could sway the youngster toward a move.

Barcelona, for their part, are open to offers but are expected to demand a fee that reflects Casadó’s long-term potential and developmental investment. With time ticking in the window and multiple clubs circling, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining the midfielder’s next chapter.
