Bergamo, July 24 – Atalanta are preparing a move for Federico Chiesa, with the Liverpool winger emerging as their top target to replace Ademola Lookman — but only if Juventus meet the club’s €50 million valuation for the Nigerian forward.
Chiesa, who joined Liverpool last year from Juventus, has not been included in the Reds’ squad for their pre-season tour of East Asia, fuelling speculation over his future. The 26-year-old Italian has struggled to cement a regular place under Arne Slot and could be open to a return to Serie A.
Sources close to the deal say Atalanta have made Chiesa their priority, though their move hinges entirely on Lookman’s departure. Inter Milan have already submitted a €40 million bid for the Nigerian international, but Atalanta are holding firm on their €50 million asking price and are unwilling to negotiate below that figure.
While Inter remain keen, Juventus have now entered the fray and are considering Lookman as a long-term attacking option — a development that could unlock Atalanta’s pursuit of Chiesa.
The Bergamo club are confident that Chiesa would bring both experience and explosiveness to their front line, should a deal for Lookman go through. Talks with Liverpool are not believed to be advanced at this stage, but movement is expected if Lookman’s situation is resolved swiftly.
For now, Atalanta are watching closely, ready to act the moment their conditions are met.
