Madrid, August 4 – Rodrygo is determined to remain at Real Madrid and earn a place in Xabi Alonso’s starting XI, despite growing interest from Premier League clubs and uncertainty over his long-term role at the Bernabéu.
According to a report from AS, the Brazilian winger has no desire to leave the Spanish capital and is committed to fighting for his spot in Madrid’s star-studded squad. Although Los Blancos are open to a sale, they are demanding around €90 million (£78m/$104m) for the 23-year-old—an asking price that has so far deterred suitors, including Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking to replace Son Heung-min.
Rodrygo endured a mixed 2024–25 season. He made 54 appearances across all competitions, contributing 14 goals and 10 assists. However, his league form dipped significantly, scoring just once in his last 25 La Liga games. He was part of Madrid’s Club World Cup squad but failed to make a major impact during the tournament.
With Real Madrid set to resume pre-season training on August 4, Rodrygo has two crucial weeks to impress Alonso before the club’s league opener against Osasuna on August 19. The winger is reportedly focused on regaining his sharpness and making a strong case for a starting role in what promises to be a highly competitive squad.
Despite his fluctuating form, Rodrygo remains a two-time Champions League winner and one of the most technically gifted players in the squad. His contract runs until 2028, giving Real Madrid leverage as they consider their options.
For now, Rodrygo’s priority is clear: stay, improve, and win the trust of Madrid’s new head coach Xabi Alonso.
