Bergamo, August 1 – Inter Milan’s pursuit of Ademola Lookman has hit another wall, with Atalanta reportedly rejecting a second bid worth up to €45 million for the in-demand forward.
The Nerazzurri have been aggressively pushing to sign the 27-year-old Nigerian international this summer, having already seen an initial €40 million offer knocked back earlier in the window. Determined to land their target, Inter returned this week with an improved package believed to be worth €42 million up front, plus €3 million in performance-based add-ons.
However, Atalanta remain firm in their stance. The Bergamo club see Lookman as a vital part of their squad and are in no rush to cash in — especially to a direct domestic rival.
Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has been a revelation for Atalanta, contributing 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances across all competitions. His ability to create and finish chances from wide areas or centrally has made him one of Serie A’s most consistent attacking threats.
Inter, fresh off a domestic title win, are looking to bolster their attacking depth ahead of the new season and view Lookman as an ideal addition to Simone Inzaghi’s forward line. But with Atalanta playing hardball, it remains to be seen whether Inter will raise their offer once more or shift their focus to alternative targets.
Lookman still has time on his current deal, further strengthening Atalanta’s negotiating position. Unless Inter present a significantly improved bid, the Nigerian star appears set to remain in Bergamo — at least for now.
