Tom Brady Praises Wrexham Rivals as Birmingham Keep Spending in Bid to Stay Ahead

Birmingham, July 31- NFL icon Tom Brady has revealed his admiration for Wrexham’s meteoric rise under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — but says Birmingham City are determined to stay one step ahead in the so-called “Hollywood derby”.

Speaking on The Sports Agent podcast, Brady was full of praise for Wrexham’s rapid progress under their celebrity co-owners, calling their transformation “incredible”. But with both clubs now competing for promotion to the Premier League, the stakes have never been higher.

“We’ve got to [keep spending],” Brady admitted. “We’ve got to keep up with one another. Wrexham have, I’d say, done an incredible job. I mean, you can’t be anything but excited about what they’ve done for that club … I’m so impressed by Wrexham. What they do on the pitch, off the pitch, and again, they’re in a great position to succeed as well.”

Despite his admiration for their North Wales rivals, Brady knows Birmingham currently hold the upper hand. The Blues romped to the League One title last season with a record-breaking 111 points and have continued their aggressive recruitment strategy this summer. With high-profile additions strengthening their squad, they are among the bookmakers’ favourites to earn promotion to the Premier League.

Wrexham, meanwhile, are also flexing their financial muscle, breaking club transfer records once again as they aim to continue their fairytale climb up the English football pyramid. The rivalry between the clubs — driven by their high-profile owners — is adding a unique twist to the Championship season ahead.

With both teams chasing top-flight football and off-field excellence, Brady made it clear: the race isn’t just on — it’s personal.
