London, July 29 – Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been rebuffed in their attempt to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, with the Brazilian star not keen on a switch to North London this summer.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Bernabéu in search of more consistent starts following increased competition for places at the Spanish giants. With the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick adding to an already stacked attacking line-up, speculation around Rodrygo’s future has intensified.
Spurs had reportedly made an enquiry for the Brazilian international, hoping to tempt him with a prominent role under Ange Postecoglou. However, according to journalist Santi Aouna, Rodrygo has “no interest” in joining Tottenham, with suggestions the player would only consider leaving Madrid for a club of greater stature in the European hierarchy.
It’s a frustrating setback for Spurs, who are looking to bolster their attack ahead of the new campaign. Rodrygo’s versatility and Champions League pedigree would have significantly raised the level of Postecoglou’s squad.
With the pursuit of Rodrygo now looking unlikely, Tottenham may have to shift focus to alternative attacking targets as they prepare for a season in which European qualification will again be the minimum expectation.
