Rosario, July 28 – Borussia Dortmund are keeping close tabs on emerging Argentinian talent Juan Valentín Giménez as they continue to scout for the next wave of defensive reinforcements.
The 19-year-old Rosario Central centre-back has impressed with his versatility, capable of playing on either side of a back-four, adapting comfortably in a back-three, and even stepping into a defensive midfield role when required. Such adaptability has caught the attention of Dortmund’s recruitment team, who are well known for identifying and nurturing young talent.
Giménez featured prominently last season, clocking up 2,466 minutes across all competitions for Rosario Central, including appearances for both the senior team and the U20s. He contributed one goal and one assist during that span, highlighting his potential on both sides of the ball.
Dortmund’s interest reflects their long-standing strategy of investing in high-upside youth prospects from South America. With his ability to slot into multiple roles and his growing experience at a young age, Giménez could be a smart addition to the Bundesliga side’s defensive ranks.
