Transfer Race Heats Up for Wilfred Ndidi as Leicester Exit Looms

Leicester, July 19, 2025 – Wilfred Ndidi looks increasingly likely to depart Leicester City this summer, with interest in the Nigerian midfielder intensifying across Europe and beyond.

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are the latest club to make an enquiry for the 27-year-old, who is available for just £9 million due to a relegation release clause in his contract. Ndidi’s consistent performances and ball-winning prowess have kept him on the radar of several top clubs despite Leicester’s drop to the Championship.

Manchester United have also explored a potential move, holding preliminary talks and even discussing personal terms with the player’s camp. However, sources indicate that the Red Devils are currently prioritising the signing of a new No.9, and any midfield addition would likely depend on an outgoing in that area of the squad.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, Everton are among three English clubs to have made contact over a possible deal, as they look to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new campaign.

Interest in Ndidi isn’t limited to England or Germany. Spanish outfit Real Betis and Italian giants Juventus have both been in touch regarding the midfielder, while clubs from Saudi Arabia have also expressed interest, presenting potentially lucrative alternatives to a European move.

Ndidi, who joined Leicester from Genk in 2017, has made over 240 appearances for the Foxes and remains one of the few bright spots during a turbulent period at the club. With his future expected to be resolved in the coming weeks, a bidding war may yet emerge for one of the summer’s most affordable midfield options.
